‘Malka’ is a song, a circle dance and a short film, created by Stefan, and dedicated to refugee children worldwide.
The poignant film was produced in collaboration with artist Lois Cordelia and film editor Tony Mounter (a fellow dance teacher) and has been used successfully in fundraising events. Malka has just had her first vodka (hic!) having been selected for a film festival in Moscow. Other film festival showings have been in Germany, Greece, India, Israel (Nazareth), Romania, UK (London) and USA (Woodstock, Washington and Delaware). Where next?! Malka recently won a commendation + Best Music Award at Kolkata Shorts Film Festival: Calcutta.

And here the circle dance and its choreography notes.
Structured dance is the best multivitamin + antioxidant with the added benefits of enjoyment and friendship.
With a growing body of research, doctors, educators and policy makers will rapidly start recommending and funding it for social and individual wellbeing. In the world's surviving indigenous and traditional societies EVERYBODY dances regularly. They really know what they are doing! Stefan is starting a collection of dances of peace and his favourite 20 will be made into a DVD. Watch this space..... Dreaming Together
Between what I call right and you call wrong, between you and me, between day and night and storm and calm, between art appreciation, fine dining and daily chores, between useless surveys and those red and blue piecharts and similar things that we call our reality, I say: let’s plant seedlings, let’s light candles in those gaps. Let’s cover the chasm between you and me in rose petals and birdsong, let’s have clear pathways, without clouded thoughts, without minefields. Let’s stop blowing everything up. Between us and them, between excess and moderation, love and hate, let us have trust. In our heart of hearts, let us have trust. Let’s cover the distance between us in small things, gestures of loving. Dream of peace, my brother, my sister, just for tonight, let’s all dream of peace. Daphne
'Wings' 2017 included a variety of live music thanks to many people who sang and brought instruments.
Fortunately Lizzie Vee caught one musical moment on film with Peter Brown on harmonica and me accompanying on the ivories. It's fun watching the dancers in the mirror! Can you see which dance they're doing? If you would like to keep up to date with what we're doing, an easy way to do it is to subscribe to our blog rss feed (click on the rss icon on the right).
